Management Studies is a general management program intended to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for learners who want to start administrative and management careers in business, government and non-profit organizations. The program emphasizes content relevant to the Nunavut employment market. The Diploma program includes a specialized concentration in Business Administration. A one year Certificate program without specializations is also available.
The program includes seven specialized streams, including Assistant Senior Administrative Officer, Municipal Finance Officer, Municipal Office Administrator, Community Land Administration, Community Economic Development Officer, Recreation Leader and Municipal Works Foreman.
Successful completion of the program will enable participants to undertake their work in a manner that will build community capacity.
The Municipal Government Certificate Program is a professional development program intended to provide graduates with a foundation of municipal government principles and practices that will assist them in their current or future areas of employment.
The program will focus on enhancing the knowledge and skills of learners from a municipal government perspective. The program has been designed to provide on-going learning and recognition for municipal staff and others who are interested in pursuing positions within municipal government operations.
This is an ideal program for those who would like to embark on a career in office administration. It provides learners with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to enter employment as secretaries, administrative assistants, typists, receptionists, word processors, finance clerks, data-entry clerks and other administrative support positions. The Diploma in Office Administration leads to careers as Executive Secretaries or Administrative assistants in the public and private sectors.
