University of the Arctic
Nunavut Arctic College is an active and committed member of the
University of the Arctic,contributing
actively to its programs and activities. The University of the Arctic (UArctic)
is a cooperating network of over 60 universities, colleges, aboriginal and other
organizations committed to higher education and research in the circumpolar
world. It is not a degree-granting institution. The overall goal of the UArctic
is to create a strong and sustainable circumpolar region by empowering
northerners and northern communities through education and shared knowledge. The
Board and staff of NAC recognize the importance of a circumpolar university to
northern development and the benefits that UArctic can bring to the people of
Nunavut.
Membership in the UArctic increases undergraduate opportunities
available to Nunavummiut and provides learning and research opportunities that
are relevant to northerners. Graduates of NAC diploma programs can receive up to
60 credits towards a
Bachelor of
Circumpolar Studies (BCS) and can enroll in BCS courses on-line. Eligible
NAC students can also participate in the UArctic student mobility program,
North2North.
