University of the Arctic

Nunavut Arctic College is an active and committed member of the University of the Arctic, contributing actively to its programs and activities. The University of the Arctic (UArctic) is a cooperating network of over 60 universities, colleges, aboriginal and other organizations committed to higher education and research in the circumpolar world. It is not a degree-granting institution. The overall goal of the UArctic is to create a strong and sustainable circumpolar region by empowering northerners and northern communities through education and shared knowledge. The Board and staff of NAC recognize the importance of a circumpolar university to northern development and the benefits that UArctic can bring to the people of Nunavut.

Membership in the UArctic increases undergraduate opportunities available to Nunavummiut and provides learning and research opportunities that are relevant to northerners. Graduates of NAC diploma programs can receive up to 60 credits towards a Bachelor of Circumpolar Studies (BCS) and can enroll in BCS courses on-line. Eligible NAC students can also participate in the UArctic student mobility program, North2North.

General information about these programs and the UArctic can be found at the UArctic website, www.uarctic.org.

Information about BCS course delivery in Nunavut can be obtained through the Continuing Education Department of Nunatta Campus, Phone: (867) 979-7261.
