Admission Requirements
Do You Qualify?
The only admission requirement that applies to every Arctic College program is that
applicants must be 17 years of age or older.
In addition, there is a list of admission requirements for individual programs.
These requirements are different for each program and outline the minimum
academic level and specialized skills and interests. To find out what the
admission requirements are for each program, see the
Programs and Courses section of
this web site.
See the How to Apply section to find out how to
apply.
Mature Students
Applicants who lack the minimum academic requirements for entry may apply as
mature students provided that they are 19 years of age or older and have not
attended secondary school for at least one year prior to application.
Mature applicants may be required to complete the Nunavut Arctic College
Placement Package as well as show through an interview that they possess the
potential to proceed with postsecondary studies. Applicants for mature student
status will be required to submit proof of age, at least two letters of
reference from persons able to assess the candidate's ability to proceed with
post-secondary studies, and a personal letter outlining the grounds for
requesting mature student status. Applicants must also submit official
transcripts, documents showing formal and informal academic qualifications, and
information about related work experience.
Since admission as a mature student is not on the grounds of age alone, the
College reserves the right to refuse admission to any applicant or offer the
option of enrolling in a College Adult Basic Education or College Preparatory
program where available.
