Singer-songwriter Beatrice Deer along with husband Charles Keelan performed for students at the Kivalliq Campus on September 2nd. Deer told students how important education is and that there is room for education everywhere. "We owe it to our ancestors to give it our all," she said.

This photograph was submitted by Donald Uluadluak of Eskimo Point (pictured on back row with black shirt, 9th from left). These men took a diesel engine course in 1959 or 1960. New Indian Affairs Minister John Duncan visits Nunavut Research Institute

The Honourable John Duncan, Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs and the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) visited the Nunavut Research Institute this week. The new facility, funded by the Arctic Research Infrastructure Fund, is expected to open this December.

The Honourable John Duncan, Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs and the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) was in Iqaluit September 7, 2010 to announce $2.8 million in federal funding for Nunavut Community Economic Development Organizations.

New facility under construction for Nunavut Research Institute in Rankin Inlet

A new research support facility for the Nunavut Research Institute is almost complete in Rankin Inlet. The new building will support visiting researchers and provide them with lab space for their work, thanks to funding from the Government of Canada's Arctic Research Infrastructure Fund.
