Lending
The majority of the collection at the Nunatta Campus Library, and all of the
materials at the Kivalliq and Kitikmeot Campus Libraries are available for loan.
Library staff can arrange to send materials to NAC borrowers who are interested
in obtaining items from library locations in another community.
The lending period for books is two weeks, and for videos is one week. Renewals
are allowed if no holds are in place. There are no overdue charges for items
returned late. Borrowers will be charged, however, for the cost of replacing an
item if it is lost, or is returned with significant damage.
Inter-Library Loans
Inter-library loan service allows NAC students and staff to gain access to a
wider range of resources, beyond what is held in the college library
collections. In special circumstances, inter-library loan requests may be
processed for borrowers outside of the college community. Staff and students are
not charged for inter-library loan service, but non-NAC requesters are expected
to cover any expenses incurred during the inter-library loan process.
Borrowers in Rankin Inlet and Cambridge Bay can submit inter-library loan
requests to the library assistant at their local campus libraries; all other
requests should be sent to the Nunatta Campus Library (contact information is
available on our About the Library
page). Library staff will try to process loan requests as quickly as possible,
but borrowers are advised to order items well in advance of when they are
needed.
Reference Services
Library users in Cambridge Bay, Rankin Inlet and Iqaluit are encouraged to
approach the staff at their local campus libraries to receive help with finding
and using information. NAC staff and students in all other communities are
invited to contact the Nunatta Campus Library (contact information is available
on our About the Library page) staff
for assistance with library and information needs.
Community Library
Services
The library strives to make services available to the entire NAC community. All
of the above services, for example, may be accessed on some level by NAC staff
and students in any community. Community users throughout the territory can also
access the library catalogue,
and online journal articles
via the Internet. Community-based educators can gain access to journals through
the library's Table of Contents service as well. For more information about the
library services available to NAC staff and students based in communities,
please contact the Nunatta Campus Library (contact information is available on
our About the Library page)
