The Finance Administrative Officer/Registrar is responsible to provide and direct the Financial, Administrative and HR Services support for the Kivalliq Campus.  The incumbent performs and oversees a variety of administrative and financial functions and is also responsible for the activities of the Registrar.  The incumbent will liaise with numerous staff and students on a regular basis.

                       

This position is located in Rankin Inlet’s Sanatuliqsarvik building (Trades School) and reports directly to the Manager, Finance Administration.  The Kivalliq Campus delivers 75-100 courses and supports 10-15 programs. The incumbent must balance multiply demands and meet deadlines while ensuring complete data accuracy. The Finance Administrative Officer/Registrar must ensure students receive positive support services by the department.

10 month Term position with possibility of extension

 

Reporting to the Director, Health and Wellness Programs, the Senior Instructor, Social Services Worker Program will be responsible for the planning, organization, delivery and evaluation of the Social Services Worker certificate and diploma programs. The Social Services Worker Programs are directed specifically to the needs of northerners and northern communities. The Senior Instructor will supervise one Instructor as well as contractors and casual staff when required. The incumbent will collaborate with college staff and other government departments such as the Department of Family Services, the Department of Justice and other organizations such as Community Wellness centers.

 

Applicants must possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work or an equivalent Social Work Degree as determined by a Canadian Social Work Regulatory college. The incumbent must possess knowledge of adult instructional methods and have a broad knowledge base in social work practice and policy. A minimum of 5 years of work experience as a Social Worker is required.

Tracking post-education success

As access to post-secondary education is mainly limited in Nunavut to the Nunavut Arctic College, many students must travel to southern Canada in pursuit of further studies. While studying educational trends among Inuit students, Thierry Rodon of Laval University realized that no work was being done to track the success of these students once they had completed their studies.

Sivuliuqtit Alumni will return to Rankin Inlet for their first Reunion on June 1, 2013

The Sivuliuqtit program (Nunavut Management Development Program) was delivered jointly by Nunavut Arctic College and the federal government's management development training Centre, the Canadian Centre for Management Development in Gatineau, Quebec. The program ran from 1995 to 1999, in preparation for the creation of Nunavut.

Three (3) year Term

Located in Rankin Inlet and reporting to the Director of Trades & Technology, the Coordinator, Curriculum Program Development works in partnership with the Department of Education, to develop Nunavut based apprenticeship, trades & occupational certificate programs. The incumbent will provide academic and administrative leadership in matters related to curriculum development, implementation, evaluation and advisement in areas of developing trades programs offered at Nunavut Arctic College. The Coordinator, Curriculum Program Development will be consistently work with Government of Nunavut educational directors and staff along with related training institutions and senior development staff from external jurisdictions.

Twelve students from John Arnalukjuak High School competed in the eighth territorial skills competitions, held from April 24-26 at Inuksuk High School in Iqaluit. Each came home with a medal from their respective categories! Congratulations students!

Eleven residents of Repulse Bay recently completed the two week course ‘Working in Research: A Community Guide to Understanding and Participating in Research Programs’. This Nunavut Arctic College course delivery was funded by through a contribution from a research project grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and was supported by the Government of Nunavut, Department of Environment, Fisheries Division with in-kind support from Arctic College.
