ADMISSION REQUIRMENTS FOR THE B.Ed.
Letter of Application:
Each candidate must submit, with his or her application, a hand written statement of not less than 500 words clearly explaining:
Why he/she wishes to be a teacher
What are his/her goals in education
What is most important for students to learn
What preparation he/she has made for being a full-time student
A copy of his/her birth certificate (marriage certificate if name is changed)
Academic Requirements
Applicants must have grade 12 with a 65% average in five (5) core subjects and pass the NAC/NTEP administered tests in Inuktitut, English and Mathematics.
Mature candidates, 21 years or older who do not meet the academic requirements, will be considered provided they achieve appropriate marks (at least 65%) in NAC/NTEP administered tests in Inuktitut, English and Mathematics.
Candidates may have to successfully complete a foundation year (average mark 65%) before being considered for NTEP.
Qualification
After successful completion of the required 120 credits, students will be awarded a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Regina.
Students must obtain a cumulative average of 65% to receive their degree
Credit Transfer Opportunities
Students may receive transfer credits from other university level credit courses if approved by the University of Regina. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
Funding and Financial Assistance for Students
Students may be eligible for funding from FANS (Financial Assistance for Nunavut Students) or other Inuit organizations.
