2014-2015 Apprenticeship results for first year students.

The January intake saw Apprenticeship Trades training for the following Programs: Level 1 Carpenter in Iqaluit, and Level 1 Electrician, Level 1 Housing Maintainer and Level 1 Oil Burner Mechanic in Rankin Inlet.

In total, 19 apprentices from the Trades Programs challenged their Level exam on March 12th. The results were very encouraging with 14 out of 19 students passing on their first attempt. The 5 students who did not pass will have a second opportunity to challenge the Level exam after 2 weeks of intensive tutoring.

Nunavut Arctic College offers a ‘Strategy of Success’ for apprentices who are eligible through Apprenticeship Regulations to re-challenge their exam after an unsuccessful first attempt. These students are mandated to remain for an additional two weeks of tutoring focusing on the concepts that the students struggled with throughout the program and on the Level exam. This highly successful second challenge opportunity is unique to Nunavut delivered Apprenticeship Programs and is not offered in other jurisdictions.

We take this opportunity to thank the students for their hard efforts and also the staff and faculty on a job well done. We extend our full support to the 5 remaining students.
