The Hon. Daniel Shewchuk, Minister Responsible for Nunavut Arctic College, is requesting members of the public in the Kitikmeot, Kivalliq and Qikiqtani Regions to express their interest in serving as members of the Board of Governors for Nunavut Arctic College. The only postsecondary institution in Nunavut, Arctic College plays the central role in providing Nunavummiut with adult learning programs and services. Our core business is training for employment. Arctic College programs cover the full range from Adult Basic Education and Trades, to Career certificates and diplomas and university degrees in Education and Nursing.

The Board has set four strategic goals for Arctic College: improving programs and services to communities, building a culturally responsive college, achieving academic excellence, and strengthening college systems and operations.

Interested individuals should have experience in areas such as general business operations, community leardership, education, and Inuit societal values. Governors attend regional meetings three times per year and regularly scheduled teleconferences for which they receive honoraria. Governors are appointed by the Minister Responsible for Nunavut Arctic College for three year terms.

Persons who wish to be considered for appointment should submit a letter of application stating why they wish to become a member of the Board of Governors. Letters of application and a personal resume must be received by December 7, 2009.

Please submit applications to:
